A public speaking campaign themed "Seeking Beijing's most beautiful souls" is currently underway, after being launched by the Beijing Municipal Publicity Department, the Capital Civilization Office and the Beijing Municipal Party Committee Lecturer Group in March.

It aims to show the energetic, kind-hearted and passionate virtue of Beijing residents by telling inspiring and touching stories from representative citizens who are hard-working, filial, honest, trustworthy, industrious and frugal.

The public speaking competition is in its fifth year. It currently has 4,598 lecturer groups in different administrative divisions, with over 28,000 speakers. In 2013, 10,314 speaking events were held, attracting a total audience of more than 3 million.

The campaign was launched in March and prepared in April and May. Public speaking will take place from June to October and a summing-up meeting will be held in December.
