PPG Industries has recently opened Alltech Engineered Finishes
in Taiwan - a facility that serves the fastener and small parts
industry by applying PPG's electrocoat and dip-spin coatings.
Located in the Hsiao Kang District of Koahsiung, the plant coats
parts for construction, industrial, electronics and automotive
applications, with capacity to serve existing regional customers
and room for expansion.
"With the opening of this coating services facility in Taiwan,
PPG is demonstrating its commitment to growth and investment in
Asia," said William A. Wulfsohn, senior vice president, coatings.
"We're adding premium coating support in the region for the
world-leading Taiwanese high-quality fastener manufacturing and
small parts industry."
This venture is PPG's first wholly owned, self-contained coating
application facility.
"PPG completed this project on time and under budget, beginning
construction in late 2005 and finishing it in June," said Viktor
Sekmakas, vice president, coatings, and managing director for PPG's
Asia/Pacific operations. "We effectively marshaled PPG's global
resources to set up a new business venture in the Asia/Pacific
region, and I'm extremely proud of the global, cross-business team
that made it happen."
Pittsburgh-based PPG is a global supplier of industrial and
packaging coatings, the world's leading manufacturer of
transportation coatings, and a leading producer of architectural
coatings, primarily in North America. In addition, PPG manufactures
flat and fabricated glass, continuous-strand fiber glass and
chemicals. Sales were US$10.2 billion for 2005.
