Editor's note: The 11th G20 summit will soon be held in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province. The city of Hangzhou has come to establish itself as a hotbed for internet-related entrepreneurship. Here we present eight of the most famous Hangzhou-based internet companies.

1. Alibaba Group

Founded in 1999 by Jack Ma, Alibaba Group is China's largest e-commerce services provider. It started as an online listings service, and has grown into an internet conglomerate of e-commerce, cloud computing, mobile media and entertainment. Alibaba went public on the New York Stock Exchange in September 2014.
