Mainland-Taiwan trade up 14.8 pct in Q1

The Chinese mainland and Taiwan did over 41.75 billion U.S. dollars' worth of trade in the first quarter this year, up 14.8 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

In the first three months, exports from the mainland to Taiwan totaled 9.34 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent, while imports from Taiwan stood at 32.41 billion dollars, up 16.3 percent, the ministry's figures show.

Taiwan was the mainland's seventh largest trading partner and sixth biggest import source over this period.

Actual investment from Taiwan to the mainland in the period dropped 2.8 percent on a year-on-year basis to 590 million dollars, according to the ministry.
