Didi Chuxing, China's largest mobile transportation platform, teamed up with 31 of its auto industry partners on Tuesday to launch an alliance for building an integrated car operator platform.
"Key areas of cooperation include auto sales and leasing, services, finance, fleet operation and car-sharing, and co-development of vehicles and industry standards," the company said at the launch event on April 24 in Beijing.
The alliance will "bring together resources and the strengths of the new mobility sector with those of key links in the automotive industry chain, with the aim to develop a full-capacity vehicle operator platform designed to embrace the upcoming transportation revolution," according to a press release Didi sent to China.org.cn.
Cheng Wei, founder and CEO of Didi Chuxing, said, "The Didi Auto Alliance will become a provider of integrated transportation services and will be a gateway for our transportation industry to elevate itself from a global leader in scale, to a global leader in innovation."
He added that "China could play a pivotal role in transforming the existing automotive and transportation structure which has been in place for more than 100 years."
The 31 founding partners span the areas of original equipment manufacturers, parts and components manufacturing, electric vehicle services and digital map services, including both domestic and foreign firms like BAIC Motor Corp., Bosch, BYD Auto, Toyota Motor Corp. and Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi.
