The ACCA, the first global accountancy body to establish its presence in Chinese mainland in 1988, has achieved remarkable success over 30 years of development. It now has 25,000 members and 108,000 student members in Greater China, providing professional skills for them to develop successful careers in accounting and business.
"China, as the world's second largest economy, has become the center of the global supply chains, and a global leader in the digital economy as well," said Helen Brand, CEO of the ACCA.
Brand added that with the launch of the BRI, China boasts huge potentials for the ACCA to tap, presenting "enormous benefits in terms of shared high standards and ethical values across the international profession."
Mustafa Hyder Sayed, the executive director of the Pakistan-China Institute, said the BRI is a visionary concept that focuses on infrastructure connectivity, including roads, rail links, sea routes, ports, as well as in terms of policy, trade and finance.
Mustafa Hyder Sayed specifically highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the flagship project of BRI, which he said optimizes trade potential and enhances energy security, directly benefiting three billion people inhabiting China, South Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East.
After the summit, Helen Brand OBE and Chen Yugui, deputy president and secretary general of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountancy, signed a memorandum of understanding as a move to further their work to develop professional accountants with international vision.
