Chrysler will recall 26,942 imported vehicles from the Chinese market over faulty gas generators, according to China's top quality supervisor.
The recall, effective on Feb. 18, will cover 21,176 imported Wrangler models manufactured between Oct. 19, 2012, and Sept. 15, 2016, and 5,766 imported Chrysler 300C sedans produced between April 16, 2013, and Sept. 19, 2015, according to a statement on the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Chrysler Group (China) Sales Ltd. said airbags for the co-drivers of the affected vehicles were installed with faulty gas generators. Passengers may get hurt by flying debris from gas generators when the airbags deploy.
The automaker promised to replace the defective modules free of charge to eliminate risks.
