Prices of farm produce in China continued to fall in the last week, official data showed.
The overall price for farm produce fell 0.5 percent from Feb. 25 to March 3, narrowing from a 1.3-percent decline the previous week, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The price of eggs registered a moderate drop of 4.1 percent, and pork, the staple meat, saw its price go down 0.8 percent. Aquatic products were also cheaper, with the prices of freshwater fish leading the losing streak.
Bucking the trend, the average price of 30 types of vegetables post a marginal rise of 0.4 percent.
Food accounts for about one-third of China's consumer price index, which, as a main gauge of inflation, remained stable during the beginning of the year.
