An Italian patrol ship was delivered to the venue of the Second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on Tuesday.

The Ferretti FSD 195 is the first exhibit entering the National Exhibition and Convention Center, where the expo will be held 13 days later, the Shanghai-based The Paper reported.

This also marks the debut of the ship in Asia.

With a total length of 20 meters and a weight of around 37 tons, the ship is made of carbon fiber, titanium metal and other advanced materials. It was separated into two parts for transportation, and will be assembled in the exhibition hall.

"China has a long coastline, and thus has a heavy workload concerning maritime patrol, rescue, anti-terrorism, anti-smuggling, etc.," said Chen Gang, chief representative of the Ferretti Group in China.

The shipbuilding company learnt about the huge demand of Chinese customers at the first CIIE last year, and has prepared to present itself to the Chinese market this year.

The first CIIE, held from Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai last year, was the world's first import-themed national-level expo. It concluded with the value of intended deals topping more than $57.8 billion.

The second CIIE will take place from Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai.
