Beijing remained number one among Chinese cities in terms of business environment in 2019, as the city rolled out two new versions of reforms to improve the business climate, said Mayor Chen Jining on Sunday.
The capital city has made outstanding contributions to advancing China's place in the World Bank's ranking for ease of doing business, he said, noting that the burden on businesses had been reduced by 180 billion yuan (about $26 billion) in total last year.
Chen made the remarks in his government work report delivered at the Third Session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, noting that the city is also among the top 20 cities in the world for indicators in starting a business, getting electricity and enforcing contracts.
The mayor said Beijing will develop key areas such as high-end professional services and digital trade, and attempt new models of opening-up to raise its business environment to a higher level.
Beijing is going to further open up its financial sector and attract more global financial institutions to settle in the capital.
One-on-one services for key foreign-invested enterprises will also be enhanced, helping more multinationals set up regional headquarters, investment companies and R&D centers in the city, he said.
