As an infrastructure of interconnectivity, the 5G network is a vital element of the "new infrastructure construction" era.
On July 12, 2019,China State Construction Engineering Corporation(CSCEC) began cooperating with China Union to build a 5G intelligent construction site, and set the construction of Building C of Jingdong headquarter (Phase II) as a pilot project. In November 2019, all equipment went into the trial operation and artificial intelligence (AI) learning stage, marking the birth of the first 5G intelligent construction site in the country.
The project combines technologies like AI, building information modeling (BIM), blockchain, cloud computing, edge computing, and big data. It also initiated 10 innovative apps, receiving attention from many industries.
5G regulation system
The 5G high-speed network equipped with facial recognition technology automatically conducts safety clothing inspection and network verification, so as to effectively verify identities, collect data, and improve the fine management of attendance and payments.
5G health analysis system for construction workers
5G health analysis system for construction workers can measure more than 10 physiological parameters for workers on site, including blood pressure and electrocardiogram, and issue reports in a timely manner. By connecting to the data platform of the construction industry via 5G high-speed network, it records key health information of workers and checks the information against the requirements of construction operations.
5G dual 360-degree stereo-visual system for real-time monitoring
A dual 360-degree vision is created by real-time video transmission from the tower crane camera and the AI glasses worn by the assistant crane operator, which supports access to tower crane operating data, instant warning of abnormality and abort capability, and 24/7 operation.
5G "smart information islands"
The project builds the 5G network in the core underground areas with point coverage, to create "islands" for communication with the aboveground, which is essential for tackling communication troubles and responding to emergencies.
Multidimensional security monitoring system
The system guarantees "omnidirectional, three-dimensional, seamless" panoramic monitoring of the construction site. Using AI technology, the ground and high-altitude monitoring are joined together to intelligently identify dangers such as trespassing of safety enclosures and fire hazards.
5G operation supervising system
Integrated to the AI platform of intelligent construction site and equipped with 50x zoom technology to oversee the operation comprehensively, the system is able to identify fire hazards and dangerous behaviors such as not wearing a helmet, and send out warnings immediately. 5G exclusive network coverage allows multichannel 1080P ultra-high-definition video transmission within seconds.
5G+AI wearable inspection system
With wearable AI glasses, inspectors can identify on-site workers and verify their compliances instantly. The system also enables managers to deploy the workforce in most flexible ways.
5G+AI remote collaboration system
The system enables and keeps records of remote inspection, inspection on concealed works, and pre-inspection. It also provides more efficient ways to tackle technical problems in construction, as it supports remote meetings with experts, and enables real-time information exchange and guidance in forms of voice messages, texts, and videos.
5G+"BIDA" technology
With the support of 5G technology, the "BIDA integration" construction technology developed by CSCEC enables the real-time synchronization of multi-platform data processing with zero delay, effectively driving down the costs of research and development and promotional expenses. The "BIDA" stands for BIM design, industrial production, dispatching, and assembly construction.
5G+"Smart Blueprint" technology
With the support of 5G network, "Smart Blueprint" will have wider coverage and faster transmission speed, eliminating the delays in updating construction plans.
