The award ceremony of the 29th Mao Yi-sheng Science and Technology Education Foundation Prize was held on Oct. 24 in Beijing. The event was co-organized by Chinese Academy of Engineering, China Railway Society, China Civil Engineering Society, and Peking Mao Yi-sheng Science and Technology Education Foundation.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) won a number of awards, including the Team with Outstanding Contributions award for the team building the Leishenshan and Huoshenshan hospitals, the Individuals with Outstanding Contributions award for 14 scientific and technological workers, and the Distinguished Youth award for four construction workers.

In the spirit of keeping up with the times, Mao Yi-sheng Science and Technology Education Foundation Prize added the Outstanding Contributions award category this year. One team, 20 individuals, and four young constructors received the award in recognition of their deep involvement and substantial contributions to the Huoshenshan and Leishenshan hospitals.

The medical facilities achieved a number of breakthrough innovations in terms of construction speed, virus containment, smart technologies, and operation optimization.

CSCEC's achievements in its report, "Key Technologies for Rapid Construction of COVID-19 Emergency Hospitals," have been reviewed and determined by expert panels as world-leading technologies.

Supervised by the National Office for Science & Technology Awards, Mao Yi-sheng Science and Technology Education Foundation Prize is a series of awards to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions in civil engineering. The award is named after Mao Yisheng, who was one of the most famous Chinese structural engineers, a pioneer in bridge construction, and a social activist.
