Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.94 percent, at 3,607.43 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.86 percent higher at 14,892.05 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.14 trillion yuan (about 179 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.15 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to coal and electricity led the gains, while those in the cement sector posted weak performance.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.34 percent to close at 3,478.67 points Friday.
