In addition, 80% of Chinese executives surveyed agreed that advancements in generative AI are ushering in a new era of enterprise intelligence, while 77% agreed that AI foundation models will enable connections across different data types, revolutionizing where and how AI is used.
Accenture, a global professional services company, has released a new research report indicating that generative AI and other rapidly evolving technologies are shaping a bold new future for businesses, as the physical and digital worlds become increasingly intertwined.
"The next decade will be defined by three mega technology trends — cloud, metaverse and AI — which collectively will collapse the distance between our digital and physical worlds," said Yu Yi, technology lead for Accenture Greater China. "While generative AI will have far-reaching impacts, leaders must dive in now to achieve its full potential."
The research report, "The Accenture Technology Vision 2023: When Atoms Meet Bits: The Foundations of Our New Reality," explores technology trends that converge physical and digital worlds, accelerating the reinvention of enterprises. The rise of ChatGPT showcases generative AI's power to augment that of the human.
Accenture's report highlights four key trends for unlocking a new shared reality, including the role of generative AI in advancing human ability and creativity, which is expected by many to usher in a new era of enterprise intelligence. In China, 58% of executives surveyed were interested in AI foundation models' quick large-scale analysis and 56% in accelerated innovation. Additionally, 83% of Chinese executives surveyed viewed digital identity authentication as a strategic business imperative and as crucial for traversing physical and digital worlds. For data management in evolving landscapes, 84% supported new data architectures and strategies to manage dramatic changes. Finally, science and technology's feedback loop accelerates the progress of both, unlocking the world's grand challenges. For instance, 78% of the executives surveyed in China found bio-innovation, materials and energy innovation inspiring for their long-term vision or strategy.
Accenture consulted an external advisory board comprised of more than two dozen experts from the public and private sectors, academia, venture capital and entrepreneurial companies in developing its Technology Vision 2023 report. Moreover, Accenture surveyed 4,777 C-level executives and directors across 34 countries and 25 industries globally between December 2022 and January 2023.
