China's road logistics price index logged a month-on-month increase in August amid continuous improvements in road transport demand and supply.
The index came in at 102.5 last month, edging up 0.05 percent from the previous month, according to a survey jointly conducted by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the Guangdong Lin'an Logistics Group.
The sub-indices of all types of vehicles rose month on month. The figure for full-truckload logistics, which mainly measures bulk commodity and regional transportation, climbed 0.05 percent from July to 102.7.
Road transport demand registered steady recovery in August, driven by continuous growth of internal impetus for economic performance. The supply capacity also gradually recovered as the impact of bad weather weakened and the traditional peak season approaches, according to the survey.
Noting the approach of the production and construction peak season, as well as the expansion of the consumption market, it predicted that the index is likely to rise amid mild fluctuations in the future.
