During the event, Fang Hongwei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shaanxi Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Xi'an Municipal Committee, emphasized the conference's goal to combine efforts and intelligence to jointly transform Xi'an into one of China's major sources of innovation and a leading force for innovation-driven development in western China.

Xi'an is the science and technology innovation hub of Shaanxi province. Driven by the city's synergistic impact over the past three years, the province has seen average annual increases of 31.8% in technology contract transactions, 40.6% in technological small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and 40.3% in high-tech enterprises. From January to September this year, the number of newly registered technological SMEs in the province reached 17,254, surpassing the total for the entire previous year by 8%.

At the conference, Meng Hao, vice mayor of Xi'an, stated, "We will introduce 10 measures across four aspects to accelerate the formation of innovative productivity and empower the development of technology, enterprises, industries, and the economy." He further outlined the city's specific plans regarding technology incubation, the deployment of innovation results, and the industrial innovation ecosystem.

Additionally, the conference unveiled Xi'an's major breakthroughs in key and core technologies, covering six domains, namely information technology, aerospace technology, new materials, new energy, high-end equipment, and life sciences. Several technological advancements have bridged domestic gaps and reduced dependence on technology imports.

Offering high praise for the conference, Razaqpur Abdul Ghani, a Canadian engineering researcher and recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, said that researchers could find elements that would help them to move forward in their research and activities and that the conference's high caliber was very appealing.
