Beijing's central business district (CBD) was ranked the most competitive among all such business districts across the country, according to a latest ranking by Forbes China. It is followed by CBDs of Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Forbes China's assessment included five key criteria: international influence, economic performance, diversified functions, consumer appeal, and innovation dynamics.
Located in the city's eastern Chaoyang district, Beijing CBD is notable for its emphasis on international finance, accompanied by advanced commerce, headquarters economy, and cultural and creative industries. At the same time, it also hosts companies in emerging forms of businesses such as the digital economy, financing for tech companies, new patterns of consumption, and high fashion.
Home to over 10,000 foreign enterprises, Beijing CBD has become the preferred location for regional headquarters of multinational companies, international financial institutions, and international organizations. About 50% of such entities in the city are located in the CBD. This concentration of global businesses and institutions positions Beijing CBD as a major gateway for Beijing's international openness.
Beijing CBD also boasts the highest number of flagship stores in the city, and it is home to over 60% of the city's Black Pearl restaurants, nearly 60% of Michelin-starred restaurants, and 40% of coffee shops.
