An innovation base for data professionals was unveiled Thursday in Fengtai district, Beijing. As the first of its kind across China, this base aims to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces through data elements.

Jointly established by China Society for the Promotion of Science and Technology Commercialization and Fengtai district, the base will facilitate data professional exchanges and training, leveraging Fengtai's strengths in the digital economy. It will also support the growth of data enterprises and create a platform for data collaboration.

Key initiatives include the development of the first national data brokerage and management training system, the establishment of a data brokerage association, and the exploration of data trading models suitable for China's national condition. These efforts aim to provide efficient digitization services to government and enterprises in Beijing and nationwide, through enhanced data market operations, security awareness, and risk prevention.

In recent years, Fengtai's digital economy has maintained strong growth momentum. In 2023, the number of large enterprises in the core industries within the sector reached 421, up by 13% year on year. The added value of the digital economy sector in Fengtai amounted to 70.38 billion yuan (US$9.9 billion), up by 7% year on year.

"We aim to create a nationally influential 'Data Element X' application demonstration area, a trusted data element industry cluster, and an industry data asset circulation hub," said Cui Xulong, the district's deputy chief.

By 2025, Fengtai plans to establish over three high-value industry data zones, create more than ten typical "Data Element X" application scenarios, and incubate over 100 data enterprises, fostering a new ecosystem for the data element market, according to Cui.
