Beijing unveiled China's first comprehensive metaverse digital experience complex at the Shougang Park on Thursday, as a featured event of the capital city's digital economy experience week and digital consumption festival.

The metaverse center offers immersive experiences, tech exchanges, and innovation displays. Twelve metaverse projects are on display, with five making their debut at the center. 

One of the metaverse projects enables visitors to take a virtual trip along Beijing's iconic Central Axis, aided by artificial intelligence and extended reality technologies. Other projects include immersive experience of China's prosperous Tang dynasty, poetry spaces, and virtual interactions with calligrapher Qi Gong.

Apart from the metaverse center, the 2024 Beijing Digital Consumption Festival offers e-commerce discounts, live-stream shopping, job fairs, and various digital experiences. Several AI companies have become partners of the festival to provide coupons for consumers to experience AI services.
