Dubai will hold a business forum in Beijing on Aug. 21 to boost economic cooperation between China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), amid increasingly warmer ties between China and the Middle East.

Dubai Business Forum – China, organized by non-profit organization Dubai Chambers, is themed "China, Dubai and Beyond: Igniting Global Trade and Investment." It aims to attract high-growth companies to Dubai and support Chinese businesses in leveraging opportunities for regional and global expansion, according to a press release from Dubai Chambers.

The forum will feature a series of panel discussions on topics ranging from innovation in trade, global opportunities for Chinese companies, and economic synergies between Dubai and China to new frontiers in technology, cooperation in innovation and sustainability, and trade and investment opportunities in high-potential sectors, according to the press release.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, president and CEO of Dubai Chambers, said in the press release, "China has always been a market of great strategic importance to Dubai, which is reflected in our decision to host the first international edition of the Dubai Business Forum in Beijing."

"The comprehensive strategic partnership between the UAE and China has accelerated cooperation in key areas of mutual interest," he said in the release. "We are confident this strong momentum will continue as we intensify our efforts to strengthen economic relations and boost bilateral trade and investments."

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of Dubai International Chamber, commented on Dubai's appeal to Chinese businesses, "Dubai offers a host of benefits for Chinese companies eager to invest in the region, including a business-friendly environment, world-class infrastructure, and its strategic location at the crossroads of Asia, Europe, and Africa."

He also noted that Dubai Chambers has set up three offices in China — Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong, more than in any other country globally, reflecting its belief in the country's "focal role on the global stage."

China and the UAE established diplomatic ties 40 years ago, and the UAE has for years been China's largest export market and second largest trading partner in the Middle East. The bilateral trade volume between China and the UAE reached $94.98 billion in 2023, data from China's General Administration of Customs shows.
