Beijing has gathered a number of top domestic robot research institutes, laboratories, and innovative teams, providing strong technological and talent support for the city to seize the leading position in the innovation and development of humanoid robots.
Beijing is aiming at the development and engineering of complete humanoid robot products and key components, and making robots that are more human-like. The city is also working on reducing production costs and accelerating the large-scale commercialization of humanoid robots.
Enterprises in Beijing are making technological breakthroughs. Robotera, a humanoid robotics enterprise incubated by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Science of Tsinghua University, has developed a native humanoid robot model and a new hardware platform designed for artificial intelligence. From software technologies such as embodied intelligence and the "brain" of humanoid robots, to hardware technologies like the robot body, joints, and motors, all key components are independently developed by Robotera.
In addition to overcoming technological barriers, efforts are also made to accelerate the commercialization of humanoid robots. Galbot, an innovative start-up, is committed to developing robots with embodied artificial general intelligence to deliver general-purpose robots.
Driven by a vast amount of simulated synthetic data, the embodied large-model robot has gradually developed a "brain" capable of reasoning, a "cerebellum" responsible for precise execution, and increasingly dexterous "hands," enabling it to independently complete an ever-growing range of tasks, said Zhu Hui, product director of the company.
Currently, the company is exploring application of humanoid robots in scenarios like healthcare and wellness, research and education, and home settings, moving toward realizing the vision of humanoid robots serving various industries and in households.
Beijing provides long-term, specialized support for the humanoid robot sector and has attracted a number of related enterprises, according to city officials. The city also supports leading enterprises in taking the initiative to establish alliances to improve the generalization and intelligence of humanoid robots.
