During the 2025 New Year's Day holiday, sales in department stores, supermarkets, franchise stores, restaurants and e-commerce businesses monitored by the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau rose 31.5% year on year to 1.22 billion yuan ($16.71 million). Visits to the city's 60 major shopping complexes reached 8.059 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%.

On New Year's Eve, many shopping malls extended their business hours, welcoming citizens living nearby to celebrate the New Year. "This is the first time I've celebrated New Year in a shopping mall," said local resident Ms. Yao at the newly opened Haidian Joy City in Haidian district.

According to data from UnionPay Business, during the New Year's Day holiday, sales at major shopping centers Xiangyun Town, Jiuxianqiao Waterfront Park and Xihongmen increased by 5.9 times, 58.1%, and 40.9% year-on-year, respectively. Data also shows that visits to the new Shougang Park during the holiday increased nearly threefold year on year.

In addition, the new consumption scene with the integration of multiple formats allowed citizens to enjoy new fun experiences during the vacation, such as the Beijing Thousand Lights Night Show and Badaling Great Wall night tours featuring concert and lantern exhibition, both of which drew large crowds.
