Beijing's Future Science City was ranked third on a list of China's top 100 science and technology cities, moving up one spot from last year.
The rankings evaluate the overall competitiveness and development potential of 348 science and technology cities across the Chinese mainland. Beijing's Zhongguancun Science City and Shanghai's Zhangjiang Science City took the top two spots.
The Future Science City is located in the south of Beijing's Changping district, with a planned area of 170.6 square kilometers. It features Energy Valley, Life Valley and Shahe Higher Education Park.
Home to more than 200 technology companies, the Energy Valley seeks to enhance strategic support for the energy industry.
The Life Valley is set to become a world-class hub for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Gathering over 800 innovative enterprises in these sectors, it boasts strength in areas including new drug development, medical devices, and precision medical services.
Positioned as a new hub for the integration of science, education, and industry, Shahe Higher Education Park is dedicated to fostering a collaborative innovation network that connects industries, academia, research, and application.
The list was released by CCID Consulting, a subsidiary of the China Center for Information Industry Development under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
