A total of 36 Beijing-based companies made the 2024 Green Manufacturing List designated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, demonstrating the green transformation of the city's manufacturing sector.

Beijing now has 161 national green factories and 30 green supply chain management companies. These enterprises span multiple industries, including 50 in the equipment sector, 32 in automobiles, 30 in pharmaceuticals, 22 in materials, and 19 in electronics.

In terms of geographic distribution, 48 of these green enterprises are located in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, followed by 26 in Shunyi, 21 in Daxing, 19 in Haidian, 18 in Changping, 15 in Tongzhou, and 12 in Fangshan.

Meanwhile, the city has designated 80 municipal-level green factories and eight green supply chain management companies.

Green factories are playing a leading role in energy conservation and green development, keeping Beijing among the top cities nationwide in green industrial development, said an official from the city's economic and information technology bureau.

Green supply chain management requires vendors to adopt environmentally sound practices. About 11.8% of Xiaomi's suppliers are designated as national green factories, and more than 10.2% of Li Auto's suppliers are national green factories.

Moreover, the capital city has launched an initiative to offer free green assessment services for companies above the designated size, providing guidance and tailored plans to facilitate their green transformation. To date, about 700 companies have benefited from such services.

The city has also established a system to foster green manufacturers by setting rating standards, conducting follow-up management, and providing policy support.

Furthermore, the city is allocating specialized funds to drive green and low-carbon development. These funds aim to help enterprises reduce carbon emissions and pollutants, improve water conservation, promote clean production, and transition to renewable energy sources.
