Daxing district in southern Beijing is emerging as a hub of innovation and industrial development, driven by strategic initiatives in aviation, health, and hydrogen energy industries.

Key areas like the Beijing China-Japan Innovation and Cooperation Demonstration Zone, Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone, Daxing Biopharmaceutical Base, and Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone connect Daxing to global industries, serving as platforms for international collaboration and technological exchange.

Established in 2020, the Beijing China-Japan Innovation and Cooperation Demonstration Zone has attracted 525 key projects, including 142 foreign-funded enterprises, creating an international innovation ecosystem. It has forged connections with 22 business associations, eight research institutions, and 27 financial institutions worldwide, focusing on technology transfer and global collaboration.

Formerly the site of an old auto parts factory, Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone has transformed into a hydrogen energy hub, hosting over 230 enterprises spanning the full industrial chain. The zone has introduced more than 1,600 fuel cell vehicles and established a national testing center for hydrogen fuel cell vehicle quality in partnership with Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation.

Daxing Biopharmaceutical Base, known as China's "medicine valley," is the largest biopharmaceutical park in the country, home to over 800 enterprises focusing on vaccines, traditional Chinese medicine, and high-end medical devices. It also fosters cutting-edge fields such as gene therapy, nucleic acid drugs, and synthetic biology.

Located near Beijing Daxing International Airport, the Daxing Airport Economic Zone has become a prime destination for international investment. Supported by policies from the airport economic zone, free trade zone, and comprehensive bonded zone, the area has reduced the operation costs for businesses. Additionally, its comprehensive transportation network links Beijing, Tianjin, and Xiong’an New Area, ensuring seamless regional connectivity.

Looking ahead, the area aims to develop an aviation industry cluster worth over 100 billion yuan ($13.78 billion), with a focus on attracting global enterprises, expanding international investment, and strengthening cross-border cooperation.
