An industrial park dedicated to the pet economy was launched on Monday in Beijing's northeastern Pinggu district, marking the city's first hub focused on the growing pet industry.
Located in Zhongguancun Pinggu Park, the Beijing (Pinggu) Pet Economy Industrial Park will specialize in pet food, healthcare, grooming, and supplies. The park aims to attract innovative companies by offering funding support for research and development to drive industry growth.
Designed as a comprehensive ecosystem, it will integrate pet nutrition, functional foods, and recreational services, positioning itself as a national model for innovation in the pet economy. Business representatives expressed enthusiasm about the park's strategic location and industry-friendly environment, seeing it as a valuable platform for collaboration and growth.
Following the park's launch, a seminar brought together over 200 experts, business leaders, and policymakers to discuss the future of the pet industry. Topics included technological innovation, cross-industry integration, and global market expansion.
Experts noted that rising consumer demand and technological advancements are fueling unprecedented growth in the pet economy. Pinggu's efforts to merge the industry with artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, and health and wellness are expected to create new opportunities and drive international competitiveness.
The industrial park will not only fill a gap in the region's economic landscape but also inject fresh momentum into its development, said a Pinggu district official. Moving forward, Pinggu plans to deepen its partnership with China Agricultural University, leveraging its expertise in veterinary medicine to build a pet industry ecosystem that combines research, high-end healthcare, nutrition, and tourism.
