Africa's leading carrier Ethiopian Airlines has announced the launch of a new cargo route to Macao, China.

The new cargo route to Macao marked the Ethiopian national carrier's 10th dedicated cargo destination in China, the airline announced Thursday. It said the new service is expected to enhance regional connectivity and strengthen trade links between China, Africa, and beyond.

"With two weekly flights and a capacity of 400 tons per week, this expansion underscores Ethiopian Airlines' commitment to efficient, reliable, and seamless global trade. As Africa's largest airline, we continue to invest in strategic routes that drive economic growth and foster strong partnerships," the airline said on the social media platform X.

It said the launch of the new route "deepens our collaboration with e-commerce supply chain partners across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, reinforcing our logistics presence in Southern China."

The new service will provide a more efficient air cargo corridor for China-Europe, China-Africa, and South America, facilitating cross-border trade and shared economic growth, according to the airline.
