One day, my brother came and told me that he would take me to hospital. I didn't know how we would get there as the hospital was very far and I was too weak to walk. My brother is not HIV-positive and he is quite strong. He told me not to worry. And he took me on his bicycle to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctor put me on ARV treatment. He explained that I should take the medicines every morning and every evening. He said it was very important to take these drugs correctly. He also explained that I had to wash my hands before taking my drugs. I have been taking these medicines for one year now and I feel fit. [© Brendan Bannon/MSF] |
