China's top legislature Saturday approved the Cabinet nomination of Miao Wei as the new minister of industry and information technology.

The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee voted to approve the nomination at the end of a six-day bimonthly meeting.

Miao, 55, replaced Li Yizhong, 65.

Miao used to serve as Party chief of Wuhan City, capital of central Hubei Province, and general manager of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, China's third largest state-run automobile company.

He was appointed vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2008.

The top legislature appointed Liang Baohua, 65, vice chairman of the NPC's Financial and Economic Committee. Liang served as Party chief of eastern Jiangsu Province.

Luo Qingquan, 65, was appointed vice chairman of the NPC's Environment and Resources Protection Committee. Luo was former Party chief of central Hubei Province.

Gao Xinting, 63, was appointed member of the NPC's Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs. Gao served as vice director of Shandong Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee.

Yang Yongmao, 63, was appointed member of the NPC's Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. Yang served as vice director of Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee.

Liu Donghui, 62, was appointed member of the NPC's Education, Science, Culture and Health Committee. Liu served as vice director of Heilongjiang Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee.
