Three years after a devastating earthquake, the worst-hit areas in Sichuan and neighboring provinces, phoenix-like, have risen from the rubble. Where are the heroes from the quake now?

Unforgettable Faces



 

 "Little hero" Lin Hao, helped rescue two classmates in the May 12 Sichuan earthquake. The child's bravery had captivated the nation.

  In the past 3 years:
China's youngest quake hero

  Now: He attended Yandaojie Primary School in Chengdu and participated in many social activities. "I will try my best to help more people and serve society,"he said.

  Now: She now works in a new position at the Chengdu Public Security Bureau. "I have already walked out of sorrow, and I am ready to be a mother again," she said. 


"Cola BoyXue Xiao, a quake survivor, cried out to his two rescuers: "Uncle, I want to have cola, I want an iced one." when he was rescued. [Profile]

  In the past 3 years: He used to using his left hand to do everything. The only difference from other teenagers is that he has received thousands of interviews.

  Now: He is an ordinary college student in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He said, "I wants to be an entrepreneur, like Richard Lee."


 "Saluting Boy" Lang Zheng's behavior, saluting to soldiers when he was rescued after the earthquake, moves the whole nation. [Profile]

 

  In the past 3 years: • Premier Wen visits Mianyang, Deyang
Torchbearer visits little quake-survivor

  Now: Lang Zheng is now 6 years old and and goes to primary school in Mianyang. He hopes that he will become a policeman or a soldier to help others.

 


 

 Zhang Shuai, 13-year old, helped to save three classmates and a teacher, lost part of his pinky finger during the quake. 

 

In the past 3 years: A local company offered to pay for his tuition and offered his parents job when it learned of his heroic deeds during the quake.

Now: Shuai received high scores on the middle school entrance exams and now plays for his class's basketball team.
