'See you on Monday!'

"See you on Monday!"

China's netizens had never looked forward to Mondays so much until March this year. Southern Metropolis Entertainment uncovered the extra marital affairs of actor Wen Zhang on a Saturday in March, adding that more juicy details would be made public "on Monday."

Little did the printed weekly know that Wen apologized on this Weibo account in the wee hours on the Monday, accelerating how things had been planned to develop. Hence, the printed media's statement "see you on Monday" was instantly rendered obsolete.

New media claimed a land sliding victory in their contention with traditional printed media. Wen's tweet of apology received a record high of one million forwards and 3 million interactions within 14 hours. "See you on Monday" and "It is to be cherished" -- Mrs. Wen's rumored forgiveness -- topped the hottest words in Chinese entertainment with 8 million and 12 million microblog interactions respectively.
