Editor's note: In recent years, many controversial records have mounted up in China as many companies and government agencies are vying to make their names through breaking a Guinness World Record. Most of the honors have been fetched through the sheer number of participants or the scale of the event.

Some internet users even joked on social platforms: "I really want to cut down the tree by my window to apply for the largest toothpick according to Guinness World Records and throw an egg into the Pacific Ocean to apply for the world's biggest pot of egg soup!"

Let's take a look at some of the weirdest world records in China.

The biggest bowl of fried rice weighing 4,192 kilograms wowed the world in China’s eastern city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province on Oct 26, 2015. The organizers made the failed attempt of registering the event into the Guinness World Records due to food waste. [Photo/CFP]
