China will set up a website to release information on missing artifacts to help return them from overseas, Xinhua learned Thursday.

The plan was announced by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage(SACH) as one of the highlights of its work this year, which include measures to improve security of cultural relics and harsher punishment for relics related crimes.

SACH will continue its artifact protection project to improve facilities at sites across the country, for better protection against fire, theft and destruction, according to the highlights.

In 2015, SACH received reports on 143 security incidents related to cultural artifacts from its subordinate administrations, including 23 fires, 29 thefts and 89 illegal excavations.
