Beijing will begin building three expressways in the east, west and south of the city, which are the western extension of the Xizhimenwai Street, Yaojiayuan Road and Lize Road. The work on the first two streets will be completed by the end of 2020, and the latter 2021.
An environment impact assessment released recently shows that the Yaojiayuan Road will be built between the East Third Ring Road and the East Fifth Ring Road in western Chaoyang District. The road will span nearly 5.6 kilometers, starting from the West Dawang Road and ends at Pingfanqiao Interchange.
The expressway is expected to help ease the traffic heading towards the capital’s airport. It will have an elevated road (the main system) with the design speed of 80 kilometers per hour and a ground road with the design speed of 50 kilometers per hour.
The western extension of Xizhimenwai Street will extend from the east of Dongcui Road all the way to the West Fifth Ring Road and connect with the Xingshikou Interchange. Spanning 6.8 kilometers, the main road will be built overhead with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour and the side road with a design speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
The Lize expressway will run from Lize Interchange (on the West Third Ring) to the Caihuying Interchange (on the West Second Ring), covering 2.07 kilometers. The same design as the western extension of Xizhimenwai Street will be applied.
