State Council appoints, removes senior officials

The State Council, China's Cabinet, announced the appointment and removal of several senior government officials on Monday.

Chen Xiaojiang was appointed vice minister of supervision, replacing Wang Lingjun, who was appointed deputy head of the General Administration of Customs, replacing Sun Yibiao. Li Yingchuan became deputy head of the General Administration of Sport.

Xu Lejiang was removed from the post of vice minister of industry and information technology, while Liu Ning stepped down as the vice minister of water resources.

The State Council also removed Teng Jiacai and Mei Kebao from their respective posts of deputy head of the China Food and Drug Administration, and deputy head of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Liu Jianchao will no longer be the deputy director of the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention, and the post of deputy head of the National Energy Administration will no longer be held by Li Yangzhe.
