Since its launch in July last year, Beijing’s I-M-WAY -- a street centering on intelligent manufacturing in the Zhongguancun Science Park -- has been home to 368 enterprises and programs and provided services for over 5,000 businesses.

The core of the street is an agile manufacturing center, which is equipped with 3D printers, material testing machines and various kinds of manufacturing and testing devices. A set of molds can be completed within three to five days there, as compared with the conventional production cycle of 15 to 25 days, saving lots of time and R&D costs for businesses.

In order to enable science and technology enterprises to go through all the phases from R&D, design and production to promotion, the street has forged a service chain that covers agile manufacturing, industrial design, technology R&D, testing and standard certification, trial production in small volume, technology services and marketing promotion in the field of intelligent manufacturing.

I-M-WAY will continue to focus on the intelligent manufacturing industry by creating high-end parks at national level and supporting and attracting more original core technologies, according to the CEO of the street. It’s expected that the street will see a transaction volume of over 100 billion yuan in the next three years through transfer of more than 10,000 items of technological achievement.

Next, the street will establish business ties with sci-tech parks in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and even across China. It will soon set up a service window at Zhongguancun Innovation Center in Baoding, Hebei Province, to serve more intelligent manufacturing enterprises.
