Yu Haiyan, former vice governor of northwest China's Gansu Province, is under investigation on suspicion of accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) announced on Friday.

Yu, a former member of the standing committee of the Communist Party of China Gansu provincial committee, has been placed under "coercive measures," which may include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention or arrest.

Investigation into his case is currently under way, according to the SPP.
