Police in east China's Shandong Province fined a delivery service for transporting an imitation AK-47 rifle, in accordance with the country's counter-terrorism law.

A subsidiary of Deppon Logistics in the provincial capital Jinan was fined 190,000 yuan (28,710 U.S. dollars), local police said Tuesday.

In August, police in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, were alerted that a package containing the imitation gun had been delivered to the city.

The authorities traced the delivery to Jinan and found that the Deppon Logistics subsidiary didn't conduct proper checks before transportation.

Both real and imitation guns are banned in China. Article 20 of China's counter-terrorism law stipulates that delivery service providers shall implement security check rules, check clients' identities, and conduct security checks or visual checks of all goods.
