As part of the event of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting, the Second China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Political Parties Forum was held in Shenzhen city, Guangdong province, from May 26 to 27.
Chaired by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the forum themed "reform, innovation and party building" was attended by some 80 delegates representing over 60 political parties and regional organizations in nearly 30 countries.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up and the CPC is willing to share its experience with political parties from CELAC countries, said Song Tao, minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, during his keynote speech at the opening ceremony.
The CPC is also willing to promote the building of a China-CELAC community with a shared future together with political parties from CELAC countries, Song noted. Bilateral ties are expected to enhance strategic dialogues, reinforce mutual trust, deepen communication, improve governance capacity, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and step up pragmatic cooperation, he added.
"China's economic development in the past 40 years not only benefited its own people, but also made great contributions to the whole world," said Lineth Guzman, vice president of the Bolivian Senate, at the forum. China's experience can be used to propel Bolivian economic growth, she added.
After two days of discussion, the Statement of the Second China-CELAC Political Parties Forum was declared at the closing ceremony on the afternoon of May 27. The first China-CELAC Political Parties Forum was held in 2015.
