Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi has called for deeper police reforms and a modern management system for police affairs.
Zhao made the call at a symposium, gathering police chiefs from across the country, held Wednesday in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.
He ordered police officers to "strengthen political integrity, think in terms of the big picture, follow the leadership core, stay aligned with the central Party leadership, and have full confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics."
"Efforts are needed to remove institutional barriers to police development, and address structural contradictions and deep-seated problems, Zhao said.
He stressed advances in reforming police management system and mechanisms for the exercise of law enforcement, simplifying procedures for applications and approval, and deepening reform of household registration system.
