A theoretical seminar between China and Cuba's communist parties was held in Beijing on Monday with representatives from the two parties exchanging ideas and visions for the future.
The Third Theoretical Seminar Between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) was hosted by the International Department of Central Committee of CPC in Beijing with the theme of "Reform, Development and the Party Building."
"Under the great care and vigorous promotion of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and Raul Castro, the first secretary of the PCC Central Committee, the two-party exchanges have formed a multilevel and wide-ranging new shape," said Song Tao, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC, in his opening address to the seminar.
With the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up, Song stressed that the CPC is willing to strengthen in-depth exchanges with the Cuban Communist Party, learn from each other, and constantly promote the building of their respective parties and countries, and jointly promote the relationship between the two parties and the two countries to a new level.
Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera, head of the International Department of the PCC Central Committee and the PCC Central Committee Secretariat, called the CPC the model for progressive forces around the world. "It is worth remembering that we have just celebrated the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx's birth. His thoughts are more dynamic today than ever before. The CPC and the PCC enjoy great prestige, credibility and legitimacy in their own countries and in the international community," he said in his speech delivered at the seminar.
The secretariat also pointed out that in today's world, certain powers are trying to impose neoliberalism and unilateralism on people, but the CPC has reached unprecedented heights through its own strength, organization, unity within the party, and achievements in firm response to domestic and international challenges.
"The CPC has demonstrated its strong ability to successfully lead the cause of reform and opening up in the past 40 years and has brought tremendous progress to the Chinese people in the economic and social fields," he said.
The Cuban party leader said they are grateful to the CPC for its continued support for the Cuban people against the United States' blockade, which is the biggest obstacle to Cuba's development, saying that, "the exchanges of theory and experience we have during the seminar will further improve our work and friendship."
