Overseas Chinese called on to promote friendship

A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official on Saturday called on overseas Chinese to contribute to the friendship between Chinese and people of other countries.
You Quan, a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with a group of representatives of overseas Chinese.
"The achievements of China's reform and opening up in the past 40 years are jointly made by all Chinese at home and abroad," he said, inviting overseas Chinese to participate in ongoing reform and innovation in China.
He also called on them to join the building of the Belt and Road, and promote friendly exchanges between China and other countries.
The representatives include 400 overseas Chinese, from over 40 countries and regions, attending activities to mark China's National Day, which falls on Oct. 1.
