China's top political advisor Wang Yang on Thursday called for more investigation and research to improve the political consultation work.

Wang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, made the remarks when presiding over the 19th chairman and vice-chairpersons' meeting of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.

Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the methods used in investigation and research should be continuously improved, demanding improved quality and practical results.

A report on investigation and research by local CPPCC committees was delivered at the meeting.

Wang also underlined the importance of the work concerning proposals, calling for good ideas and suggestions for the reference of Party and governmental departments in decision making.

Noting that this year marks the 70th founding anniversary of both the People's Republic of China and the CPPCC, Wang demanded efforts to further improve theoretical study, enhance consultation quality and help build consensus.
