The International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee introduced the intensive education efforts within the CPC to nearly 50 representatives of political parties from 19 countries in a lecture in Zhengzhou, Henan province, on June 27.

This is the first time the CPC shared with foreign parties its inner-party education since the 18th National Congress in late 2012.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as the 70th anniversary of the CPC's building of its nationwide governance.

Song Tao, head of the department, said the huge achievements in the development of China over the past 70 years were achieved under the CPC's leadership. The purpose of the CPC's education campaign themed "staying true to our founding mission" is to ensure that it, as a large party with history dating back nearly a century, keeps its advancement, purity and vitality in the long term.

Song said, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, pointed out that the Communist Party of China strives for both the wellbeing of the Chinese people and human progress.

Because of this, the Party introduced the education campaign to foreign political parties, which demonstrates not only the CPC's openness on party building, but also its commitment to making a greater contribution to mankind.

Song said that in the face of great changes around the world that have never been seen in over a century, all responsible parties around the world should always stay true to their original aspirations and missions, continuously strengthen party building efforts and serve the people. Song added that the CPC is willing to advance party construction and better serve the interests of different peoples through mutual learning and exchanges with other parties.

Officials of relevant departments introduced the objectives of the education campaign, its meaning and main content, as well as the local Party committees' implementation of the CPC Central Committee's instructions.

Representatives of political parties from Laos, Cuba, Spain and Central African Republic spoke after the briefing from their Chinese hosts. They all agreed it was praiseworthy that the CPC could still stay true to its original aspirations and mission after its many great achievements, and said that it offers a valuable reference point for other parties in party construction and dealing with developmental risks and challenges.

All foreign party representatives attending the meeting said they expected to engage in further exchanges with the CPC on party building and governance in the future.
