Phoenix TV:
Beijing may face some challenges in keeping the city and its services functioning as normal during the celebrations. I would like to ask what measures Beijing will take to deal with these challenges? Are there also any special arrangements to ensure a safe environment for the celebrations? Thank you.
Lin Keqing:
Thanks for the question. The activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) will be a grand nation-wide gala, which will also provide a platform for all the Chinese people to celebrate the birthday of their motherland and enjoy the glory of the Chinese nation. Many citizens in Beijing have voluntarily participated in various celebration activities in their own ways, featuring the participation of the people. Just as Mr. Du has mentioned, mass parades and galas both highlight the dominant role of the public in these celebrations.
We have made some arrangements as follows so as to enable citizens in Beijing to fully experience the joy of the 70th anniversary and have a blissful and auspicious holiday celebration:
First, mass celebrations will be held in parks across Beijing during the National Day Holiday. Celebration activities will be held in some well-known or symbolic parks in Beijing, such as the Temple of Heaven Park, Taoranting Park and Beijing Garden Expo Park. Activities will also be held in 100 gardens or parks with good locations, suitable sizes and beautiful scenery. Moreover, a diverse spread of flower arrangements and horticultural landscapes will be set up in these parks and gardens during the National Day Holiday. A series of activities, including artistic performances, sports shows and exhibitions will also be held on Oct. 2. In addition, the 2019 International Horticultural Exhibition will conclude soon and a series of splendid celebration activities will be held during the exhibition. We would like to invite citizens and tourists to visit the expo to enjoy the horticultural beauty and fruits of ecological development.
Second, we will create a festive atmosphere that is clean, well-organized, warm and solemn. To highlight the features of the National Day, we will make the city greener, brighter, cleaner and more beautiful. We will bring to prominence the theme of the National Day Holiday through the hanging of national flags, banners, public-service advertisements, and outdoor LED screens for publicity. We will also set up many 3D flower beds, arrange nightscape lighting and light shows. Through all these activities, a festive atmosphere that is solemn, warm, united, harmonious and progressive will be created.
Third, we will organize cultural activities. Mr. Wang has introduced the publicity and education activity with the theme of "My Motherland and I", and activities of raising the national flag and singing the national anthem. In addition, various voluntary services will be provided for the activities held during the holiday, which will fully mobilize the enthusiasm of the public and people from all walks of life to participate in the National Day celebrations, and boost patriotism.
Fourth, we will strengthen measures to guarantee the city's normal operation and an interrupted supply of city services. Emergency plans for power, telecommunication, natural gas and nightscape lighting will be made in advance. We will intensify our efforts in patrols and inspections of equipment and facilities, and preparations of emergency personnel, vehicles and goods . Companies providing drinking water, power, natural gas and heating will be put on 24-hour shifts during the holiday so as to ensure the normal operation of these facilities. Relevant departments will also strengthen the supply of daily necessities, improve transportation and allocation efficiency to ensure a steady and stable supply of goods during the holiday. At the same time, we will do our best to provide the best services and convenience for domestic and foreign tourists .
It's a glorious mission for Beijing to make good preparations for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. We will try our best to avoid disturbing normal life of residents, and make efforts to combine our services with the improvement of the city's fine management. The citizens of Beijing are traditionally known to take the big picture into consideration, and consider state affairs and celebrations as part of their own business. I believe Beijing citizens will continue to show their full understanding and support for our work. On behalf of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and People's Government of Beijing Municipality, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation and great respect to all Beijing citizens. Thank you.
Wang Xiaohui:
