A large group of radical protesters gathered and charged the security cordon lines at the Hong Kong International Airport on Sunday afternoon, the police said.
Since 1:00 p.m. local time, protesters have been gathering around the bus stops at the terminal of the airport.
At around 2:00 p.m., the radical protesters started to charge water-filled barriers, pointed laser beams at the airport authority staff, and blocked roads with trolleys and mills barriers.
They also hurled objects at police officers and airport authority staff.
Those protesters were participating in an unauthorized assembly, the police said in a written message to local media, adding that since an injunction order is in force at the airport, the protesters may be liable to "contempt of court."
The police warned all protesters to stop their illegal acts and leave immediately.
At around 3:30 p.m., the police said they would soon conduct a dispersal operation and warned all protesters to leave and stop their illegal acts immediately.
Trains to Hong Kong's international airport were suspended on Sunday and those departing from the airport operate at 10 minutes intervals, the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) said.
The MTR made the arrangement on the Airport Express as requested by the Hong Kong government and the Airport Authority, according to its website.
Demonstrators had planned to block travel routes to the airport on Sunday.
After days of disturbances and violence by unlawful assemblies at the airport, the airport authority obtained on Aug. 13 an interim injunction from the court to restrain persons from unlawfully and willfully obstructing or interfering with the proper use of Hong Kong International Airport.
The court extended on Aug. 23 the interim injunction at the airport and announced that the order would maintain the status quo until trial or further order of the court.
