The International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) held a seminar in Beijing on Friday to discuss Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy as well as the CPC's foreign relations work, bringing together around 70 experts from think tanks, universities and research institutes to share ideas.
During his opening remarks, Song Tao, head of the IDCPC, said that, under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core, the Party's foreign relations work had made many achievements and become an important part of the country's overall diplomacy.
"Drawing on our experience of the past 70 years, we have come to realize the importance of sticking to our own development path while expanding international exchanges; consolidating the CPC's ruling status while improving its influence; uniting with socialist forces at large while gaining understanding and support from other global partners; striving for national rejuvenation while contributing to human progress across the globe; safeguarding the interest of the Party and the nation while promoting win-win cooperation, world peace, and development," he said.
Against the backdrop of changing relations between China and the world, Song pledged that the IDCPC would continue to implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, improve its foreign relations work, introduce China and the CPC to the outside world, and enhance synergy among various central and local departments.
Chen Yangyong, editor-in-chief of Qiushi Journal, the flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee, said more is needed to be done to explain China's peaceful development, its global governance as well as China's foreign policies in order to be well-received by the international community.
The seminar also discussed theoretical innovations of China's foreign relations, China-U.S. relations, and the CPC's foreign relations work under the guidelines of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy.
