Chinese authorities plan to extend a pilot program which allows for traffic accident disputes to be handled online, to the whole country, according to a statement issued on Friday.
Processes to settle disputes, including identifying responsible parties, calculation of compensation and litigation in court, can be done on an online platform, which shares related information with the police, courts and insurance companies.
The statement was jointly issued by the Supreme People's Court, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice and the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.
The pilot program was started in November 2017 and had been tested in 1,380 local courts across the country by the end of April.
