The number of nucleic acid testing institutions in Beijing has expanded from 98 in early June to 184 today, and more than 11 million people in the city have been given nucleic acid tests since June 11, local authorities said at the city's regular press conference on July 7.
An epidemiological investigation was carried out immediately after the Xinfadi Wholesale Market was identified as a high-risk location within 22 hours of the outbreak, explained Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
On July 6, Beijing reported no new confirmed domestically transmitted cases of the coronavirus, as well as no new suspected or asymptomatic cases, for the first time since June 11.
However, Pang warned that zero reports does not rule out the possibility of new cases in the coming week, as thousands of people are still under observation, including 31 asymptomatic cases.
Pang reminded the public that they should continue to maintain a high degree of vigilance, and strictly abide by the prevention and control requirements. She also called on all departments, communities and localities to effectively advance the prevention and control work in a precise and scientific manner so as to maintain the positive trend.
