A non-profit organization has been established in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region to help alleviate poverty.
The Tibet Society for Promotion of the Guangcai Program, which mainly consists of private enterprises and businesspeople, aims to boost economic development and social progress in impoverished areas.
So far, 31 private firms have donated 6.64 million yuan (993,300 U.S. dollars) through the organization, according to Zhang Rong, an official with the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce in Tibet.
Zhang said that the organization will try to help with social charity work and poverty-relief efforts.
